FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Evangelist Michael Gott to Speak at Harvest Point

Evangelist Michael Gott is scheduled as guest speaker at Harvest Point Church for Sunday, September 14, 2008 in both the morning and evening services.  The morning service begins at 10:30a and the evening service at 6:30p.

Evangelist Michael Gott, now in his mid-sixties, is a symbol of evangelism with integrity.  He has preached the Gospel in person to over one million individuals—as many as any contemporary Southern Baptist evangelist.  Hundreds of thousands more have heard his simple message through radio and television.

Reared on a small farm outside Livingston, Texas, at sixteen years of age he had an experience with Christ that changed his life purpose.

Ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention in the 1960’s, Michael received a solid foundation in Christian beliefs at Baylor University, Waco, Texas.  In 1965 he graduated from Baylor University with a B.A.

After graduation from college, Gott served as a youth evangelist and held special events for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  Within a year after leaving Baylor he was selected for a British theological scholarship.  Baylor president Abner McCall; head of the Baylor religious school Ray Summers; and distinguished professor Kyle M. Yates were instrumental in securing the study grant for Gott.  He attended the University of Edinburgh in Scotland for post-graduate work in New Testament preaching.

Michael Gott is a Master of Divinity graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Michael also preached throughout the United States and Europe and steadily emerged as a leading spokesman for the Christian faith.  Today, Michael Gott is perhaps at the height of his ministry, which has spanned more than forty years.  He has had opportunities to preach in almost every state in America and more than fifty other countries.  Since 1970 he has held preaching missions in virtually every country in Eastern Europe in Europe’s largest churches.

As founder and head of the Michael Gott Evangelistic Association he has actively sought over $400,000 in scholarships for students from the former Soviet Bloc countries.  Many students have studied on this program throughout America.

His inspirational articles and recorded messages appear and are distributed throughout Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Africa.

He has been invited to attend every major conference on evangelism convened by Billy Graham in the last twenty years.

Mr. Gott was president of the Southern Baptist Evangelists in Texas and vice-president of all Southern Baptist Convention evangelists.  He was once tabbed as an “authentic international citizen” by leading officials in Poland.  He has personally met world leaders from Margaret Thatcher to Lech Wałęsa.

He has been quoted in numerous magazines, and he has been the subject of newspaper and magazine feature articles.  Recently he was selected to be quoted in a nationally distributed book on quotes from outstanding Christian leaders—his statement, “An evangelist is a nobody, trying to tell everybody about somebody who can change anybody!”

He and his wife Jan have one daughter and a son-in-law, one grandson, and one granddaughter.  The couple makes their home near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in the city of Keller, Texas.

Harvest Point Church is located 1/4 mile inside the south Loop at 2708 South Street. Sunday morning Bible Study for all ages begins at 9:15 am followed by Worship at 10:30 am.
